How Grapes are Grown and Wine is Made.
Wine making is among the oldest crafts dating back thousands of years and has been credited as a
major factor behind the rise and expansion of human civilization worldwide. Surprisingly, in spite of advanced technology, wine makers from ancient times would probably feel right at home in the wineries of today.
The art and science of grape growing, harvesting, fermenting, and aging wines developed by monks
more than a millennia ago remain at the foundation of modern wine making. In this wine tasting seminar, we will discuss the anatomy and lifecycle of the grape, and some of the history and basics of
white and red wine production from the bud to the bottle.
Presented by Sam Schmitt, CS, CWE.
Complimentary for Club Adelsheim members; $25/person for non-members.
$5 for every participant in this seminar will be donated to the Harrington Family Foundation to benefit higher education in Oregon.
